JAZAN: Four people were killed and three injured from one family when their car hit a stray camel along a road in Jazan on Tuesday
Baishi bin Isa Al-Sarkhi, spokesman at the Saudi Red Crescent, said the accident took place on the Jazan-Madhaya artery.
The ambulance teams arrived at the site and provided first aid to the injured. They were admitted to Jazan General Hospital, he was quoted as saying by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Vehicle collisions with stray camels have become a growing threat in the kingdom in recent months.
A Saudi was killed and his friend was seriously injured after their car struck a camel outside its farm this week outside Tabuk.
“The car collided with the camel after the driver could not avoid it. The driver died while his friend was seriously injured,” local media said. The accident unfolded on a dark road.
“The two cases were referred to King Fahd Hospital in Tabuk,” Khalid Al-Enezi, the spokesperson for the Red Crescent in the region, said. “One young man has died and the other is still in hospital,” he was quoted by Sabq.org as saying.
The area has recently seen a spate of accidents related to stray camels, particularly at night. A young woman was killed and several other passengers were injured a few weeks ago when their car hit a stray camel on the same road.
